Option One assembles the people an undertaking needs, for the length of that undertaking. We keep a standing register of practitioners we can call on, and it is open to speculative application at any time.
How the register is used
Work arrives as a whole undertaking rather than as a role. What it will need is settled once the architecture is, which is late and rarely the same twice. Recruiting from a standing start at that point would put the wrong constraint on the design.
So the register comes first. It is read when an undertaking is scoped and the people on it are approached directly. Engagements are associate: self-employed, for the undertaking, on terms set against the work.
Disciplines
The same four capabilities the firm is retained for, described here as the work rather than the offer. Apply against the one you would want to be called for.
Design
Establishing what should exist before anything is committed: the architecture, the sequence, and the decisions that have to be taken first.
Planners, operations designers, systems architects.
Build
Making the working thing rather than the specification for it: systems, procedures, automation, and the training that puts them into hands.
Engineers, builders, operators, trainers.
Integrate
Staying with an operation until it runs without us and depends on no one person.
Programme leads, embedded practitioners.
Communicate
The record and the telling, for people who were not there. Film, sound, photography and the written word.
Directors, editors, sound recordists, writers.

What is being assessed.
Whether you have been answerable for something working, and what you did when it did not.
Sector matters less than that. Most of what we are asked to do has not been done before by the people asking, so a career spent adjacent to it is worth more than a title inside it.

A short introduction saying what you want to be called for and why. Your CV as a PDF, attached. And something about you the CV does not carry.
Choose a discipline before selecting Apply and it is carried in the subject line. Every application is read and held on the register. We reply when an undertaking calls for the discipline, which may be some months after you write, and sometimes not at all. Silence is not a judgement on the application.
